Andy Irvine

7 October

7:30pm for an 8:00pm start

Live at Sam’s is proud to announce an evening with Andy Irvine!

Andy Irvine is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as “a tradition in himself.” Musician, singer and songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his over 50-year career. From Sweeney’s Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s, his duo with Paul Brady in the later 70s and then from Patrick Street to Mozaik, LAPD and Usher’s Island, Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians.

As a soloist, Andy fills the role of the archetypal troubadour with a show and a travelling lifestyle that reflect his lifelong influence, Woody Guthrie. To quote The Irish Times, “Often copied, never equalled”, his repertoire consists of Irish traditional songs, dexterous Balkan dances and a compelling canon of his own self-penned songs.

This concert will also be a 30th Birthday celebration for me so get your party hats on and book your seats for what is sure to be an amazing night!

Covid measures:

As I’m sure you’re aware our venue is my home! Because of this we are unable to social distance but do want to keep our audiences and artists as safe as possible. We ask that all people attending take a lateral flow test within 48 hours and bring it to the event to show on the door.

As we are asking everyone attending including the artist to test before the event, we are keeping mask wearing optional. Please feel free to wear a mask if you feel more comfortable, we want this to be a safe and respectful place.

The house is well ventilated and open and we will endeavour to keep the air flowing as best we can without getting you all wet!

We ask that anyone with any Covid symptoms or who has had recent contact with another person with Covid to please not attend.

I do know my audience and trust you all to be in this with us, singing from the same hymn sheet so we can get back to singing those songs we love!

Refunds will be given for anyone unable to attend for genuine Covid related issues.

New way to secure your seat:

As I’m sure you’re all aware there has been a big move to contactless payments post Covid. We are happy to announce that you can now pay your donations (for the artists) and secure your seats seamlessly online via the booking link below.

All donations go to the artist, as you will see there is an option to pay slightly more or slightly less depending on your situation. Obviously after a tough year for the music industry we encourage you to be as generous as you can be.
